I’m from Sitka, Alaska. When I watched Kayci’s video share, I
was inspired to share my own story, because I think women need to hear
as many success stories as they possibly can.
When you’re sick with an eating disorder, it can feel like you’ll never make it
through it alive. So, this is a contribution of mine to share my story of recovery
and shine a light on what is possible.
I love what you’re doing with HNS, and I also wanted to do my part to
help show my support of what you’re doing.
If I can ever help in other ways, let me know!
Thanks,
Jenn
Healthy is the new Skinny is dedicated to creating social change in our beauty culture. We would like to see more young women enjoying who they are and valuing all aspects of themselves. One of the ways we work to create this change is by talking about the overwhelming pressures put on young girls and giving positive support to those who need it. The one thing we hear the most at HNS and with our PUP program is “I thought I was the only one who felt that way.” We have learned that there is healing in knowing you are not alone and by sharing your story you can inspire other girls to believe change is possible. Everyone of us has a story that we can use to make a difference. If you would like to share your body image story with Healthy is the new Skinny here is what we need from you: 1.) We need a 2 minute video. 2.) Here are a few things to address in your video: - Tell us about your body image story. We want to know what you struggled with or are currently struggling with. Why do you think you felt or are currently feeling that way? - What would you like to see change for girls? (media, relationships with other girls, etc.) - What do you plan to do to create change in your own life and inspire the girls around you? - What do you want to tell girls who are still struggling to feel good about themselves? - Why do you love the HNS message? These are a few ideas to get you started but please feel free to speak about whatever you feel you need to share! 3.) Upload your 2 minute video to youtube. 4.) Send your youtube video link (make sure it is not private) to yourstory@healthyisthenewskinny.com 5.) In the email title please include: Your Name and MY STORY VIDEO example: Sara Willcox MY STORY VIDEO 6.) In the email we need the youtube link, your name, where you are from, and tell us why you felt inspired to share your story. We can’t wait to be inspired by all of you and your passion for life! We can make a difference and we can do it together! |
